Column of Marcus Aurelius (lat.Columna Centenaria Divorum Marci et Faustinae, Italian. Colonna di Marco Aurelio) is a Doric column located in Rome on the square of the column named after her (Italian. Piazza Colonna). Erected between 176 and 192 years, in memory of the Marcus Aurelius War of Marks, the Trayan column served as the prototype. The column height is 29.6 m, its pedestal is 10 m. The total height of the monument was 41.95 m, but 3 meters after its foundation 1589 restorations were below the surface of the earth. The barrel of the column, according to various sources, consists of 27 or 28 blocks of Kara-Kara marble of 3.7-meter diameter. Like the column of Trajan, it is hollow, inside there is a spiral staircase with 190-200 steps leading to the top, where a sculpture of Marcus Aurelius was installed in antiquity. The staircase is illuminated through small slots.
