Widok na zamek w Będzinie i synagogę. The Będzyn Castle is a medieval fortification that was restored in the 19th and 20th centuries in the Polish city of Będzin. The construction of the castle dates back to the reign of Casimir the Great. In 1588, Maximilian III of Austria was imprisoned in it, who was defeated in the struggle for the Polish throne. The 17th century Swedish invasions left the castle in ruins. At the beginning of the 19th century, the question was raised about their demolition, but the Polish patriot Count Edward Raczynski bought out a monument of antiquity and financed its reconstruction.
