Built in the XIV century Lithuanian Prince Lyubartom, who married a local princess, and adopted the Orthodox faith (taking the baptismal name Dmitri), he was chosen as the prince rezidentsii.V today at the castle, there are three names: Lutsk (the most common), Upper ( as there are more and Lower castle, dilapidated) and Westminster castle (Duke Lutsky ca. 1323-1324 and 1340-1383) .Zamok Westminster -. one (if not the only) of the few surviving architectural monuments of Ukraine era of the Great Duchy of Lithuania.
