House no. 8 is located on the corner of two streets - Rumyantsevskaya (Sovetskaya) and Myasnitskaya (Kommunarov). The building served as an apartment building and belonged to the merchant Leiba Mayants. Pre-revolutionary reference collections and calendars of the city, as well as archival documents, made it possible to determine the functional use of its premises and name their owners. In this building before the revolution and for a long time after the revolution, shops and other establishments were located on the ground floor: L. Ginzburg's stationery store, L. Pikus's haberdashery store, B. Yu. Uzylevsky's pharmacy, L. Mayants' wine store, Kh. Khoroshin's locksmith's establishment, office of the Gomel notary N. N. Terletsky. After the Great Patriotic War, the first floor was occupied by the city post office. The house is an example of an apartment building of urban architecture of the late 19th - early 20th centuries.
