Train coming to the station for a long time closed. Dundee Esplanade station was opened in 1889 by the North British Railway, after the second bridge was built Tay. signal box with "Tay Bridge North" was the inscription on the eastern platform. This signal box closed in 1928. In 1939 the station was closed for passenger and for freight transport.
