Photograph caption reads: "Forty-five stories above downtown Los Angeles, builders of the south tower of the Crocker Bank complex have run out of blueprints at last and decided to call it a building. A traditional ceremony took place yesterday when a red, white and blue steel beam with an evergreen tree attached was used to proclaim the 'topping out' of the imposing new structure. Crocker officials, already installed in the bottom 20 floors of a 55-story tower adjacent to the south tower, say the new building will be completed by the middle of next year". Photograph dated: July 9, 1982. The Los Angeles Office of Skidmore Owings and Merrill designed the the Crocker Bank complex in the late 1970s. When Wells Fargo Bank and Crocker Bank merged in February, 1986, the Crocker Tower was renamed the Wells Fargo Tower.
