Fifth Ave. (left) west side, south from West 57th (right) to 56th Streets, showing prominently at the S.W. corner of the first point, the Whitney Building, which is numbered, 2 West 57th Street. Note that the buildings on the left have been altered. Prior to 1916, the Whitney structure will go through a similar process and slightly later (prior to 1925) will be demolished in conjunction with the adjoining Fifth Ave building to become the present (1937) site of the 25-story Heckscher Building, No. 728-34 Fifth Ave. Between 1910-1916.
