5th Ave., east side, & 56th St. A front view of New York's most beautiful and perfectly appointed home for the apparel of women, misses and children, the Bonwit Teller shop at Fifth Ave. & 56th St. In taking over what was formerly the Stewart Building, Bonwit Teller found it necessary to completely reconstruct both its interior & exterior plan to fit the physical necessities of their organization and to meet their policies and ideals. Ely Jacques Kahn is the architect responsible for this reconstruction. Shown here is a section of the new front of the store with its dignified facade of Benedict metal and glass which runs up two floors and enables the shop to be flooded with sunlight.
