Luštica
The size of the island is small - in diameter it does not exceed 200 m, but its main value is its strategic location right at the entrance to the bay, it seems to close it with a castle, which was appreciated by the military who decided to build a defensive fort here. On one side of the island is Cape Prevlaka on the border with Croatia, and on the other, the Lustica Peninsula, approximately in the area of Zhanitsa Bay. The direct line to Herceg Novi is about 6 km. The Austrian fortress on the island in the middle of the 19th century was built by General Lazar Mamula, who was the governor of the Kingdom of Dalmatia in 1859-1865. This vassal state of the Austro-Hungarian Empire at that time controlled many cities of the Bay of Kotor and needed to protect its possessions from encroachments from the sea
