Niemcy > BerlinThe Schindler orphanage was moved from Schöneiche to Berlin in 1746. It was founded by the Prussian entrepreneur and politician Severin Schindler (1671-1737), whose charitable work was continued by his widow. After moving to the building built around 1688, it was 57 for 30 orphaned or parentless Protestant boys. The Schindler orphanage was completely destroyed in 1944 after several flying attacks. The Friedrichgracht 56 building is indicated on the right edge of the picture.
