Madison Avenue, north from E. 32nd Street (intersection at left) showing a Manhattan arterial canyon formed by loft buildings of the easterly Fifth Avenue district. In the mid distance appears a campaign banner drawn across the thoroughfare from the National Democratic Headquarters at 37th Street. Beyond same and barely outlined is the 40 story structure, No. 444 Madison Avenue at 49th - 50th Streets. Fall 1938.
