Date 16 April 1975. - One of the most famous museums located on the Museum Island on the Spree River in central Berlin. The building of the museum was built in 1910-1930 according to the design of Alfred Messel and Ludwig Hoffmann, primarily for the Pergamon Altar discovered by Karl Human, and also for a collection of late antique paintings and sculptures, exhibits of the Near Asian Museum , including works of the Hittite, Assyrian, Babylonian and Persian art and the Islamic Museum (including the frieze from Mshatta). Since 1958, all these collections are united under the general name "Pergamon Museum". Currently, the museum’s exposition is subdivided into the Antique Collection, the Asian Museum and the Museum of Islamic Art.
