Byurakan
His Holiness planned to build a country house for the summer holidays of parishioners and seminary students. Located near Yerevan, on the southern slope of Aragats, Byurakan, airy, picturesque and rich in cold waters, in the past served as the summer residence of the Armenian Catholicos. The plot for the construction of a country house here with an area of 2.5 hectares was provided to His Holiness by the Government of Armenia on the occasion of his 50th birthday. This site is located outside the village, on an elevated place, from where magnificent panoramas of the Ararat valley and the snow-capped peaks of the mountains crowning it open. The building of the patriarchal dacha was designed by R. Israeli in December 1968. The presented project was approved by His Holiness the Patriarch and the commission of architects of the Mother See.
