The lighthouse of Cape Hatteras, built in 1870, was decided to move deeper into the coast due to erosion of the soil and the threat of collapse. On July 9, 1999, the operation to "move" the lighthouse began. The photo shows the final stage - the lighthouse is almost in its new place! Modern satellite view:
