The Church of St. Augustin in Paris during the "Fêtes Jeanne d'Arc" in 1922. After her canonization in 1920, the cult of the French national heroine flourished both politically and religiously. From then on, every second Sunday in May, the liberation of Orléans in 1429 by the French army under the command of Joan of Arc was celebrated annually. Later, ceremonies around the figure were increasingly associated with right-wing events. Although the festivities are no longer held in St. Augustin, military memorial ceremonies are still held on the Place des Pyramides in front of the Joan of Arc statue.
