Aerial view of the Newton T. Bass residence, located on Highway 18 and Aztec Road in the town of Apple Valley. Bass, along with partner Bernard "Bud" Westlund started the Apple Valley Ranchos Land Development Co. in 1946, which was the beginning of the development that became the incorporated Town of Apple Valley. Architect Francisco Artigas designed the house. Down in the valley, housing developments can be seen scattered throughout. Photograph dated February 3, 1961.
