Fountain de la Croix de Pierre in Rouen - one of the few existing medieval fountains in France. It was built in 1517 next to the stone cross erected by the local bishop Gautier de Coutances in 1197. The fountain was destroyed by the Calvinists in 1562, but was soon restored. In 1774, the medieval stone cross was destroyed, but a small cross has been installed on the top of the fountain, which gave it its name. In 1792, during the French Revolution at the top of the cross he was replaced by a bust of Marat, but in 1795 the bust was smashed. Damaged fountain was restored in 1816. In 1872 the fountain was rebuilt by architect Eugène Barthélémy according to the original plans. Old to font was moved to the garden of the Museum of Antiquities.
