Coin Tower (Munttoren or Munt (nid.)) - A tower in Amsterdam, Netherlands. She stands on the bustling Monet Square, at the confluence of the Amstel River and Singel Canal, at the flower market and the eastern side of Kalverstraat shopping street. The tower was originally part of Regulierspoort (nid.), One of the main gates in the medieval city wall of Amsterdam. The gates, built in 1480-1487, consisted of two towers and a guard house. [1] After the fire of 1618, only the guard house and part of the western tower were preserved. The tower was restored in the Renaissance style in 1619-1620
