On the left is the Warner Beverly Hills Theatre, located at 9404 Wilshire Blvd the marquee promotes "Virginia City" with Errol Flynn, Miriam Hopkins, Randolph Scott, and Humphrey Bogart. Also seen are the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, further west on the boulevard (center), various shops, and the offices of California Bank.Designed by B. Marcus Priteca in the early 1930s, the theater's large scale and elaborate Art Deco design made it a prominent feature in the landscape of Beverly Hills, distinguished especially by its tall neon-lit tower sign. Sadly, "The Beverly" as it was last known, was razed in 1989 to make room for a parking lot. Commissioned by Walker G. McCarty, the Beverly Wilshire Hotel was designed by Walker and Eisen and built in the beaux-arts tradition in 1926. The hotel underwent a major renovation in 1991 at the cost of $65 million dollars.
