The Sanahin bridge is one of the most significant engineering structures of medieval Armenia. It is located in the city of Alaverdi, Lori region, above the river Debed. In 1192, the bridge was built under the auspices of Sisters Zakara and Ivan Zakayaryanov Vaneni, in memory of his early departed husband, King Abas Kyurikyan. The bridge is located over the narrow and fertile banks of the river Debed. The bridge was repaired several times. Restored in 1888 for the Tiflis highway.
