Rétaud
Parish church, built around 1140 to 1150. It consists of a three-bay nave, which was once vaulted, a fourth bay (completely redone in the 15th century), above which rises an octagonal bell tower, and finally a chancel ending in a semicircular apse. The apse is illuminated by five windows set in arches. The Church of Saint-Trojan de Rétaud was attacked during the religious wars. The bell tower was used as a defensive tower. The various stone decorations are quite unusual. As a rule, the theme of temptation and sins was played out. The influence of secular culture is also noticeable here. So, among the modules, we find a griffin, a bird, a lion, and there are also either human heads, calm and serene, or floral decoration. Other: view
