Fresnicourt-le-Dolmen
The feudal fortress of the XII - XV centuries. The family castle of the D'Alhain family, one of the oldest and most influential families of the province of Artois. Château d'Alhain survived all wars and revolutions. The castle belonged to the heirs until the beginning of the twentieth century, when it had to be sold. It is known that from the XVIII century. He served mainly a hunting castle, but was constantly supported in good condition. One of the wings, reaching the widest part of the ditch (about 80 meters), was demolished. Castle kitchens are located in the basements that date from the era of the Merovingian, i.e. V -VIII centuries. Currently, the castle is non -residential, only the farm has been populated. In the summer, Château d'Olhain can be visited.
