The extensive building was built on the territory of the former estate of the second half of the 18th century, originally owned by J. Bodachowskiej-Zapolskiej - a favorite of Prince Kazimir Ponyatovsky. In 1862-1863. the building becomes the property of the noble maidens from the Alexandrinsky-Mariinsky Institute transferred from Pulaw. In 1915, the Institute of Noble Maidens was evacuated to Russia. In 1919, the building was converted into a Diet. In 1925-1928. a new conference room in the form of a rotunda will be completed. After 1928, the conference room will be significantly rebuilt. The walls of the Mariinsky Institute destroyed in 1944 were demolished and a new building of the Sejm (1949-1952) was built in their place.
