Battleship «Redoutable» - steel battleship with central battery, built for the French Navy in 1873-1878, respectively. The first steel warship in the world. Actively served in the 1880-1890's in the Mediterranean. Decommissioned in 1910 and sold at slom.Franko-Prussian War and its heavy financial implications for France has led to serious delays in the development of the French armored fleet. Ships laid down in the 1867-1869 years, were completed very slowly and entered into operation already obsolete. He had a displacement of 9224 tons, with a length of 97.13 meters, 19.
