View of the annual Catholic procession, commemorating the 411th anniversary of the appearance of Our Lady of Guadalupe. This year's procession, sponsored by the Holy Name Union, is dedicated to the memory of the soldiers who perished at Pearl Harbor. Approximately 20,000 people are shown gathered outside the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, located at 3772 E. 3rd Street. Archbishop John J. Cantwell (shown on the right in the raised makeshift altar) leads the service as Col. Henry Huntington, Judge Advocate General of California serves as honorary marshall and Capt. Thomas Murphy, 2nd Regiment, California State Guard serves as marshall. In addition to having members of the 2nd and 7th regiments in the procession, there are two companies of Mexican soldiers, and details of Filipinos, Chinese and Koreans in the 1st regiment, led by a Mexican band. Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and members of the Loyola High School R.O.T.
