Aerial view of fairly deserted Pike amusement park south of Ocean Blvd. in Long Beach and the surrounding streets. The Pike extends to the ocean's edge while beach flanks both sides of the amusement park. Started in 1902, The Pike ran until 1979. The Cyclone Racer was created by Fred Church, built in 1930 by Harry Traver and was a dual-track (two trains could run at the same time), racing wooden roller coaster. It stopped operating in September 1968.
