Rillly la Montagne is one of the oldest village of the Champagne region. Backing onto the mountain of Rheims and overlooking vineyards, Rilly la Montagne has kept its character and traditions of a small Champagne village.The fountains and wash-houses in Rilly la Montagne - The building of fountain and wash-houses was linked to the development of health policies from the mid-19th century. But with the provision of running water in the dwellings, such places have been gradually left behind and only a few of them still remain today. In Rilly, the fountain called «of the station» is topped by a «little fellow», a dancing Bacchus in cast-iron which became the symbol of the village.This cast-iron Bacchus still stands today.View is onto a bar / tobacco store on the right (with alcool drink sign-panel "Byrrh" & battery sign-panel "Wonder"), and then street leadsq towards the railway station square.You will also note the barriers of the railway crossing.
