6th Ave El Service to the 58th Street Spur Terminal was discontinued and the 58th Street Station was closed. The 58th Street Spur had through train service to downtown in rush hours and a one-car shuttle to 50th Street Station the remainder of the time. This is a June 17, 1924 view South from the 6th Ave El 58th Street Terminal to the switch tower that straddled 57th Street. The 58th Street Station was planned as the original northern terminal of Metropolitan Elevated Line.
