Monument medieval humanist E.Dole, executed in this square, was delivered in 1889. Destroyed in 1942 GS came to power in France, the Vichy government, under pressure from the fascist administration was made a lot of decisions that changed the face of the French capital. One of them - the decision to send the smelter sites of copper and non-ferrous metals. Officially, this was due to "the needs of industry and agriculture" (spraying vines with copper sulphate), as well as to motivate them to low artistic level. In fact, the decision was dictated by other aspirations (although Nazi Germany really use some part of the metal in its military industry, as part of the Third Reich gave the sculptor Arno Breker). Part of the copper, and the truth, went for spraying vineyards. Statues were destroyed by the humanists and philosophers.
