Rilly-la-Montagne
Rillly la Montagne is one of the oldest village of the Champagne region. Backing onto the mountain of Rheims and overlooking vineyards, Rilly la Montagne has kept its character and traditions of a small Champagne village.Picture represents a vine worker, during spring work (like to prunet vine for ex).Note that in the early 20th century , vines had wooden posts, no iron wires, vine rows were a bit lower... which is very different from today. All the work was hand made.Left & further away: view is on the Rilly la Montagne village (maximum 1 km).Hand writing notes translation... as we are on the road, we taste from time to time some bottles of Champagne. It does some good!
