Old Passage
Aust Ferry, or Beachley Ferry, had a ferry service that ran across the Severn River until the opening of the Severn Bridge in 1966. The ferry, created in 1926, served only cars (since 1934), pedestrians and motorcycles for trucks denied access to the ferry terminal. He could transport a total of 17 cars. Each car had to turn sharply off the ramp, and then stand on the turntable of the ferry, manually operated, turn around and park. The last ferry crossing was September 8, 1966, the day before the opening of the first North Bridge.
