Designed by John and Donald Parkinson and built in 1929, the department store and Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument was acquired by the Southwestern Law School in the mid-1990s.Photograph caption dated June 2, 1985 reads, "City planners hate the 'messiness' caused by such stores as Bullock's Wilshire, but they love the 'discipline' imposed by such downtown stalwarts as Pershing Square and the ubiquitous high-rises. Only poor slobs like us, it seems, enjoy the linear downtown pioneered in Los Angeles." A second caption dated November 10, 1985 reads, "The tea room in Bullock's Wilshire is a great place to meet people, especially if you're looking for someone who's retired."
