Strasbourg Cathedral (German Straßburger Münster / Liebfrauenmünster zu Straßburg, French Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg..) - Catholic cathedral in Strasbourg, France, the former for over 200 years, the tallest building in the world. It belongs to the biggest cathedrals in the history of European architecture and the world's largest buildings of sandstone. As well as the city of Strasbourg, the cathedral combines German and French cultural influences. From 1524 to 1681 was a Lutheran soborom.Zdanie built of red Vosges sandstone (fr. Grès rouge des Vosges). Construction began in 1015, and in the following centuries, the cathedral rebuilt and changed its appearance. Eastern part of the cathedral, including the choir and south portal, made in Romanesque style, and a longitudinal nave and famous, decorated with thousands of figures, the western facade is a masterpiece of Gothic arhitektury.
