Berlin
The old church of the Franciscan monastery, which had been left there shortly after Berlin was founded, was built between the 13th and 14th centuries in the style of brick Gothic on the city wall. The Franciscan convent dissolved after the introduction of the Reformation in Berlin-Cölln in 1539 and the high school moved into the monastery building to the gray monastery. Fambantities such as Karl Friedrich Schinkel, Friedrich Ludwig Jahn and Otto von Bismarck attended this school as a student or taught there as a teacher. In April 1945, a few months before the end of the war, a bomb attack destroyed large parts of the monastery complex, so that there were only ruins left.
