The Grand Palais was built 1900 in classical baroque style at the Champs-Elysées specifically for the World Exhibition. Since then, he serves for changing art exhibitions, while the Petit Palais directly in front hosts permanent art collection. During the First World War and after (at the time from which dates the image), the building was used as a military hospital.
