Church of St. Nicholas in Chardonnay (Église Saint-Nicolas-du-Chardonnet) is located in the 5th district of Paris. The whole ensemble of the church - the result of the restructuring of a medieval building in the years 1656-1763, in particular, with the participation of Jacques Lemercier. The exact date of construction of the first chapel of St. Nicholas on this site is unknown, but according to the documents, it should be referred to the XIII century. Probably, it was associated with the located near the university. These lands belonged to the rich Abbey of St. Victor. The chapel eventually became too small, and was replaced by a Gothic building. By the time the New Church upadok.V came to XVII century, a decision was made on the restructuring and the restoration of an old building, and redirect its main axis to the north due to lack of space. (This is one of the churches read the XVII century, is not focused on the east-west axis.
