The Jungfernbrücke, built by Dutch compatriots in the 17th century, is the only wooden tract bridge in Berlin. Over the years, many legends and stories that tell of the origin of the name "Jungfernbrücke" have arisen. One reported by a virgin who was pushed into the water from this bridge out of jealousy and another tells of nine sisters who shared and scattered rumors on the bridge and were called maidens.
