The church was inaugurated in 1375. It was built in a strict Gothic style. It is one of the few Gothic churches in the Netherlands that has a facade of two towers. After the ban of Catholicism in the country, the church building began to be used as a prison and an arsenal. In 1808, Louis Bonaparte (the first king of Holland) returned the church to the Catholics. From 1851 to 1854 The church was restored by architect Theo Molkenboer, who made a catastrophic decision to cut several square pillars into round pillars, as a result of which the structure was greatly weakened and the north tower collapsed. This tower was rebuilt in 1855. At the Battle of Arnhem in September 1944, the church completely burned out. In 1947-1951 he was restored. Since 2013 it has not been used for church purposes, but exclusively as an exhibition and concert hall.
