Theater l'Ambigu-Comique, a former Parisian theater, was founded in 1769 on the Boulevard du Temple and adjacent to the Theater de Nicole. It was rebuilt in 1770 and 1786, but in 1827 was destroyed by fire. The new, larger theater, with room for 2,000 people, compared with 1250 previously, was built nearby on the Boulevard Saint-Martin, at the intersection of Rue de Bondy, and opened in 1828. The theater building on the Boulevard du Temple was demolished in 1966.
