Alemanha Alemanha > Berlin
In the 13th century, an approximately 2.5 km long city wall was built around the medieval cities of Cölln and Berling. The old city wall was the protective wall for the two cities for several years. But since the 17th century, the wall has no longer been able to withstand the further developed weapons and warfare techniques. After the wall had been conquered to the opposing troops in the Thirty Years' War, Elector Friedrich Wilhelm had a new fortress built to protect the city of his residence. The remnants of the old city wall with a length of approximately 120 meters can still be found between the restaurant "Zur Stanz" and the district court in Berlin-Mitte. South German baroque was built. The outdoor facade of the district court was greatly simplified during the reconstruction after the war. During the German division, the building was the seat of the Supreme GDR court.
