Red door - Porte RougeEtot unassuming doorway on the north side of the choir is called the "red door", thanks to the bright color of their wings. It was erected by architect Pierre de Montreuil in the second half of the XIII century and was used as a direct passage between the monastery and the cathedral. Red door connected the monastery, where he lived canons and choristers of the Cathedral, to facilitate their access to the Notre-Dame de Pari.Na tympanum above the door is the scene of the blessing of Christ, the Virgin Mary, while the angel places the royal crown on her head. The upper part depicts Saint-Marcel Bishop in Paris V century. His remains are considered one of the most precious sanctuaries of the cathedral and the rest on top of the cathedral choir in front of everybody prihozhan.V left side of the doorway placed sculptural panels on how the bishop conducts the ceremony of baptism and holy communion - the two most important sacrament for Christians of all denominations.
