The Grünstraße, which was created in the Middle Ages, was densely built on and has always been inhabited by craftsmen and traders. In the VG on the right there was a tower of the city fortification at the point of the lit barrier and the house until around 1700, which covered a water gate in the subsequent city wall. In the depth of the street, the neo-Gothic Petrikirche built by Wilhelm Kreyher rises after designs by Johann Heinrich Strack 1847-53 with its slim tower. At that time it was the highest Berlin building at this time. The entire ensemble will be damaged in World War II and falls victim to the "Fischerkiezes" of the pointed hacke in the 1960s.
