East Houston Street, north side, at the foot of Second Ave. (where bus is parked), as seen from the foot of Forsyth Street, looking northwestward. The clearance shown was created as a result of the demolition of houses which formerly stood there, to make way for the construction of the Independent System Subway (Eighth Ave. subway). March 13, 1934.
