In the 19th and early 20th century many famous painters like Picasso, Utrillo and Renoir lived and worked here. Just a few streets away from Sacre Coeur and the "Lapin Agile", this is one of the tourist highlights in Paris. Today in the square are numerous stalls of painters, offering the tourists portraits.
