The history of the Gomel flying club building is closely connected with the former stone Trinity Church. In 1933 it was closed, and in 1934 a city flying club was opened in its building, named after Kliment Efremovich Voroshilov. Not only the internal contents of the building have changed. In the same 1934, the Komsomol organization and the city public helped in the arrangement of the club. In addition to teaching flying, the flying club practiced gliding, which was very popular in the pre-war years. Parachuting was no less attractive for the youth of those years. In the courtyard of the flying club there was a special simulator for beginner parachutists. During the Great Patriotic War, a bomb hit the building of the flying club. Only the walls remained of the building and it was not restored after the war. In 1960, the Sozh Hotel was built on this site.
