Original wooden house and barn on the Whitaker Ranch located on Centinela Avenue in Santa Monica. The Santa Monica Airport is now located in this same location. Santa Monica Airport was originally called "Clover Field" after World War I aviator Lieutenant Greayer "Grubby" Clover, and was home of the Douglas Aircraft company. The first circumnavigation of the world by air took off from Clover Field on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1942. At one point, it was the site of the Army's 40th Division Aviation, and became a Distribution Center after World War II. Today, the airport handles 400-500 operations a day.Location ± 500 m
