Deutsche Bank was carried out in two construction phases in 1882-1891 according to plans by the architect Wilhelm Martens. First, an independent office building with four axles to the French road (right) and six to the Mauerstrasse is being built. Then the main building, starting with the middle risalite on Mauerstrasse, is completed to the corner of Behrenstrasse (left, not visible). On the right afterwards the front of the Deutsche Union-Bank on the right, built by the architects Ende & Böckmann in 1872-74. This financial institution has been part of Deutsche Bank since 1876 and was united in the 1880s with its new building to form an overall complex. Rebuilt in a reduced form after war destruction.
