Photograph caption dated February 7, 1983 reads, "Protesters rally outside landmark First United Methodist Church building downtown." Opened on July 8th, 1923, this church at 813 S. Hope included a four-story Sunday school building and an auditorium that sat 3,000 visitors. Despite the efforts to protect the structure, it was demolished in 1983.
