Aerial view of Downtown Los Angeles view is looking east from over the Harbor Freeway (110). The Statler Hilton Hotel can be seen at the lower center, with the Mobiloil/Mobilgas building behind it and to the left, next to that is the Richfield Building (with tall antenna), and to its left is the Los Angeles Public Library. Photographed for Union Oil Company on October 25, 1955. The Statler Hilton Hotel, located between 7th and Wilshire was built by Holabird, Root & Burgee of Chicago. The Mobiloil/Mobilgas building, located at 612 S. Flower Street, was built by Gladding McBean & Co between 1947 and 1949 for $8,000,000. Richfield Oil Corporation, at 555 South Flower Street, was built in 1928 by Morgan, Walls & Clements it was razed on November 1969 to make way for the Arco Towers. The Los Angeles Public Library, located at 630 W. 5th Street, was designed by architects Bertram G. Goodhue and Carlton M. Winslow and constructed between 1922-1926.
