In 1782, the Jews received permission from the Bishop of Gniezno, Anthony Ostrovsky, to build a new synagogue, which was to be built on the site of the old synagogue. The synagogue was famous for its magnificent synagogue complex. In 1890, an accident occurred in the women's gallery of the synagogue - the women were frightened by a boy dressed as Boruta, and about 40 of them trampled on each other in panic. During the Second World War, the Nazis looted, and then in 1940 - they burned the synagogue, the ruins of which the Jews were ordered to demolish - photographs of the fire (Nazi postcard "Brenende Synagogue") and the demolition have been preserved. The bricks were used to build the governor's villa. After the war, the synagogue building was not restored, and now there is a park in its place.
